Week 4 - Down In The Dumps
Hello Everyone, I hope your week has been going better than mine. This week has not been a very productive one for me due to getting a cold last weekend. I actually missed two days of work this week because of said cold. And if you asked anyone who knows me, I don't ever get sick and I don't like to miss work. So, this week has been very trying.
Fit For Life Update
Monday was the first weigh-in for our Fit For Life program at work. Unfortunately, that was one of the days I missed. But never fear, I made it in on Tuesday and got weighed. According to the scale at work I weigh 234 lbs. however I do not completely trust those scales. For starters I was wearing my work boots which are steel toe, and had all my work related stuff in my pockets. So, from this point on, I will be recording my weight at my gym with a very accurate electric scale without all the additional weight of my work gear.
My user name for MyFitnessPal is BlackRoseAngelUS. I will put a direct link to it at the bottom of this post for finding me easier. I will be updating my weight on there with the scale from the gym, so it will be more accurate and up to date. I plan on doing weekly weigh-ins at my gym on Mondays. The weigh-ins for Fit For Life is on a bi-weekly schedule.
My user name for Fitocracy is BlackRoseAngel. I will try to the best of my ability to record my workouts within the limitations of Fitocracy's workouts. So please feel free to watch my progress in levels with my workouts. Also, if you have an active Fitocracy account feel free to add me and we can give each other props on awesome workouts and goals crushed! The link to my page will also be at the bottom of the post as well.
Something I've wanted to start doing for some time is to help other beginning developers by posting programming related blog posts with pictures and code examples. With that in mind, I have started my Programming Lessons.
This week's topic was WatchConnectivity and more specifically using transferUserInfo with it. If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend that you do. These posts will primarily be related to things I am currently doing and using on my own programming journey. But I am always open to suggestions. So please feel free to leave a comment or email me with any suggested topics you'd like to see featured in future Programming Lessons.
Yesterday, we also started another blog post series, which is created by our resident programmer Michael Craun. This week's topic covers the starting phase of preparing your project for Push Notifications. Another great topic! If you haven't seen his blog post I definitely think its worth a read.
Over the past week I've been listening to John Sonmez's audio book The Complete Software Developer's Career Guide on Audibles. John Sonmez knocks it out of the park with this book! I highly recommend picking up a copy regardless of your level and experience as a Software Developer. He has so many tips regarding the career path of becoming a Software Developer it can help anyone go from where they currently are to a much better place. A link to his book will be below.
I've been watching John's YouTube videos for about two years now, and I find his content very inspirational. He is a no-bullshitting, straight-to-the-point kind of guy. And he covers so many more topics than just Software Development. If you are looking for some career or life guidance I can't recommend him more highly! Just check him out yourself.
